Concerned Lay Catholics

A Voice for Lay Catholics in Canada

But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into Christ - Eph. 4:15

Dear Friends,

Advent is a special time to celebrate the hope that the coming Christ offers to the world. Jesus is with us today and everyday as we seek to emulate his trust in God, his mercy, and his care for all-especially those on the margins. In a time when our world is beset by many crises - social, political, ecological, spiritual - we appeal to Jesus, the Prince of Peace, to accompany us and inspire us to be beacons and messengers of hope, peace and justice in our world.

CLC was created as a group of concerned lay Catholics called by our baptism to lead lives rooted in the gospel values of justice and mercy, committed to promoting healing, and to instill a sense of co-responsibility between laity and clergy in a spirit of trust, transparency and accountability.

During this Jubilee Year of Hope, we experienced this co-responsibility in the national synodal gathering, Journey of Encounter: Pilgrims of Hope Embracing Synodality hosted by CLC at St. Jerome’s University. We heard from so many that Concerned Lay Catholics and the vision of a synodal Church is giving them Hope!

We ask you during this Advent to help maintain our important ministry by Giving the Gift of Hope:

  • to lay Catholics who are finding their hopes renewed by the promise of a synodal church

  • to survivors of clergy sexual abuse who are seeking healing

  • to those seeking reconciliation with Indigenous peoples

  • to women whose contributions deserve to be valued

  • to 2SLGBTQ+ people in need of inclusion & love

  • to everyone who needs to hear the 'good news' of mercy & compassion that is at the heart of the Church's mission

If you could consider a monthly donation, no matter how small, it would provide stability and allows us to plan.

Will you join the growing number of people who support the work of

Concerned Lay Catholics in Canada and keep the hope alive?

Concerned Lay Catholics

We are an independent group of concerned committed lay Catholics formed in Canada to affirm the laity’s role of co-responsibility in the Church. Our vision, mission, and values flow from the teachings of the Second Vatican Council, the vision of the Holy Father Pope Francis, and the call of the Canadian Bishops for healing, reconciliation and transformation.

We want to work to restore trust and promote healing in the Catholic Church by encouraging lay people to become educated, engaged and empowered to act in the following key areas:
