Positive messages…
Week of July 11, 2021
This week, CLC wants to highlight some recent positive messages that have come out regarding the residential schools crisis in Canada as it pertains to the Roman Catholic church. Of note is a homily delivered by Father Bill Burke of St. Marguerite Bourgoeys Parish in Sydney, NS. Father Burke’s message is totally aligned with the vision of Concerned Lay Catholics. He says it simply and clearly: without the participation of the laity -in decision-making and not just discussion- the Church will not be restored. He reaffirms the teachings of Vatican II that we have one mission and one calling through baptism. We may have different functions and roles and tasks, he says, but "we are all in this together." Please give a listen to his homily, which is based on last Sunday’s scripture readings, at the link below.
In his homily, Fr Burke refers very positively to the latest communication from Cardinal Collins, Archbishop of Toronto.
So we are also providing the link to this latest communication from the Archdiocese of Toronto as a complement to Fr Bill’s homily.
Here it is…
